How to start your humanities research
Turn a broad interest into a question you can investigate. Instead of searching only for “history”, try a place, period and theme, such as “trade networks in ancient India”. Use the topic collections above to explore related ideas.
Find scholarly articles
This hub searches journal article records from Crossref. Results help you identify titles, authors, publication dates and original sources. Follow the article link to check whether the publisher or a repository offers the full text.
Evaluate the evidence
Read beyond an abstract. Check the author’s argument, methods and references, compare different perspectives, and distinguish primary evidence from later interpretations. A search result alone does not establish a source’s quality or relevance.
Build a question worth discussing
Keep notes on what each source claims, the evidence it uses and the questions it leaves open. Record citation details as you read, then bring your ideas to Cordastra’s student community or apply to join the team.
